Changchun overview

In many ways Changchun represents the typical Chinese city. It has congested streets full of newly acquired cars, a problem with air pollution, and overpopulation. In other ways Changchun represents the modernisation of China, as the city is laid out logically and compactly and is connected by a light rail, making it easy to get around. The city has also made every effort to stay green by protecting much of the forest in and around the city, which is how it got one of its many names of Forest City. Changchun is also popular with film buffs and is known as one of the birthplaces of Chinese cinema. The Changchun Film Festival is popular with both locals and tourists. Although the words Chinese and film might not be synonymous, this makes for a great side trip in an interesting and young city in China.
