Chongqing overview

Chongqing Travel Guide
Chongqing is located in the central western portion of China, and since it has broken away from Sichuan, has become one of the fastest growing economic hubs in China. The city is packed with history and tourist attractions especially for those interested in World War II. Because Chongqing was one of the three Chinese headquarters for the Allies during World War II, there are still a lot of buildings and monuments from that era. The People's Liberation Monument is one of the most popular attractions in the area and commemorates the defeat of the Axis powers. Of course, you may not be able to find it now that it is in the shadow of massive shopping malls, but it is there if you look really hard. If you've had enough WWII from Spielberg movies then you can check out the Dazu Rock Carvings, which show the religious diversity of the region.
