Dalian overview

The coastal city of Dalian in northeast China represents a bizarre clash of Chinese, British, Japanese and Russian culture, as it has been conquered many times, making it one of the most unique cities in China. The language reflects this as Dalian has its own dialect, but don't worry, it is no more incomprehensible than any of the others that you can't understand. Even though Dalian has been a major industrial centre, the city has managed to maintain a nice environment and is known as one of the greener major cities of China. Many people like to compare it to some of the cities on the west coast of America and to most Chinese people, Dalian is the most beautiful city in China, and was even ranked most livable by the China Daily. Dalian also boasts a top Chinese football team for those feeling a bit homesick for some footie.
