Taiyuan overview

Located on the Fenhe River and surrounded by a picturesque mountain range that would make for a perfect postcard, the city of Taiyuan is home to about 3.5 million people and is one of the fastest growing cities in China today. Famous for its temples and ancient charm, the city offers a large number of tourist destinations for travellers to China such as great shopping and many great sites to visit. Taiyuan offers a spectacular range of accommodation options, dining and nightlife. The city is also great for shopping, with a wide choice of clothing, handicrafts and souvenirs on sale. Travellers can fly to Taiyuan from Beijing and Guangzhou in about an hour, but a new super-fast rail line has opened up between the capital and Taiyuan, with travelling time for the 500km journey cut to just three hours.
