Yinchuan overview

The city of Yinchuan, located a stones throw away from the Mongolian border, is the capital of the Ningxia autonomous region and is home to a population of about 750,000 people. Most travellers who head to Yinchuan are generally stopping off briefly on the intensely long bus trip from Beijing to Urumqi, which can take up to three days. First time travellers to China would probably never consider coming here, unless they were seeking holiday activities such as struggling with language barriers and eating unidentifiable food. However, there are a few locally-oriented bars, restaurants and the usual pagodas which can be found in pretty much every Chinese city. Flights operate to Yinchuan from most major Chinese centres and a limited accommodation range.
